Biography

Shear-Jashub is the elder son of the prophet Isaiah. His name is itself a sermon — "a remnant shall return" — a message of both judgment and hope, for though Judah would be devastated, a faithful remnant would survive and turn back to God. Isaiah was told to take the boy with him when he confronted King Ahaz (Isaiah 7:3), making the child a living sign of the prophetic word.
