Overview
Chorazin lay in the hills a couple of miles north of Capernaum, within the triangle of towns at the heart of Jesus' Galilean ministry.
A town of mighty works
Though the Gospels record no single miracle by name at Chorazin, Jesus' words imply that "mighty works" were done there — for it is grouped with Capernaum and Bethsaida as a place that had seen much.
The woe on the unrepentant
"Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes" (Matthew 11:21; Luke 10:13).
A warning to the privileged
Chorazin stands as a sober warning: nearness to Jesus and his works brings greater responsibility, and greater judgment when met with unbelief.

Archaeology & History
Chorazin is identified with Khirbet Kerazeh, north of Capernaum, where the ruins of a town built of black basalt include a fine 4th–5th century synagogue with a carved stone "seat of Moses." Its decline fulfilled the Gospel woe, leaving an evocative ruin in the Galilean hills.
