Overview
Antioch of Pisidia (distinct from Antioch of Syria) was a Roman colony in the highlands of Asia Minor, a key stop on Paul's first journey.
Paul's synagogue sermon
"They... came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day" (Acts 13:14). There Paul preached one of his fullest recorded sermons, tracing Israel's history to Jesus, "through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins" (Acts 13:38).
Turning to the Gentiles
The next sabbath "came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God." When the jealous opposed him, Paul declared, "lo, we turn to the Gentiles," and the Gentiles rejoiced (Acts 13:44–48).
Driven out
Opposition drove Paul and Barnabas from the region, and "they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium" (Acts 13:50–51).
