Archaeology & History
Tarshish is most often identified with Tartessos, a wealthy trading region of south-western Spain rich in silver and metals — a fitting "ends of the earth" for Phoenician and Israelite shipping — though some place it in Sardinia or elsewhere in the western Mediterranean. Its precise identity remains debated.
