What It Was
After a rebellion against the priesthood, God had each tribal leader place his rod before the Ark. Aaron’s rod alone “brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds” overnight (Numbers 17:8), silencing the dispute. It was kept before the testimony as a sign.
