What It Was
Elijah cast his mantle on Elisha to call him (1 Kings 19:19). With it he struck and parted the Jordan (2 Kings 2:8). When Elijah was taken up, Elisha took up the fallen mantle, struck the waters, and they parted again — proof that “the spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha” (2 Kings 2:13–15).
