Temple of Solomon
Solomon's Temple was the spiritual heart of Israel for approximately 400 years. When completed, God's glory filled the Temple so powerfully that the priests could not stand to minister (1 Kings 8:10–11). The Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians under Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BC. The second Temple, rebuilt after the Exile, was later expanded by Herod the Great and destroyed by Rome in AD 70. Jesus prophesied its destruction and declared Himself to be greater than the Temple (Matthew 12:6).
