Biography

Aholiab, son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan, was the chief assistant to Bezaleel in constructing the tabernacle. God appointed him and put wisdom in his heart, making him a master "engraver, and… cunning workman, and… embroiderer in blue, and in purple… and fine linen" (Exodus 38:23). Together with Bezaleel he led the willing-hearted craftsmen who built every part of the sanctuary according to the pattern God gave Moses (Exodus 36:1–2). His partnership with a man of Judah — a craftsman of Dan working alongside a craftsman of Judah — shows the whole nation joined in the work of worship.
