Biography

Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was a fisherman of Bethsaida and one of the twelve apostles. A disciple of John the Baptist, he was among the first to follow Jesus.

The man who brought others to Christ

Andrew's defining trait is introducing people to Jesus. After meeting the Lord, "he first findeth his own brother Simon… and he brought him to Jesus" (John 1:40–42). It was Andrew who pointed out the boy with five loaves and two fish before the feeding of the five thousand (John 6:8–9), and who, with Philip, brought inquiring Greeks to Jesus (John 12:22). He is remembered as a quiet, faithful witness.
