Serug was a son of Reu and the father of Nahor (Abraham's grandfather), placing him as Abraham's great-grandfather in the line of Shem (Genesis 11:20–23). He lived 230 years. He is one of the named links between the flood and the patriarchs, and appears in Luke's genealogy of Jesus as "Saruch" (Luke 3:35).
