אַיִן

And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they said, Of Haran are we.

And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food. roughly: Heb. hard things with them

Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.

And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:

And they said unto Joshua, We are thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who are ye? and from whence come ye?

And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Bethlehemjudah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.

And when he had lifted up his eyes, he saw a wayfaring man in the street of the city: and the old man said, Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?

But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither. no whither: Heb. not hither or thither

And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress? If: or, Let not the LORD save thee

Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?

Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?

A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. I will: or, Shall I lift up mine eyes to the hills? whence should my help come?

Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou?

And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
