Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned. consume: Heb. violently take

For want and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste. solitary: or, dark as the night in: Heb. yesternight

A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; thirsty: Heb. weary where: without water

And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.

He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.

He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.

The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
