תַּחְתּוֹן

And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Bethhoron the nether, and to Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the sea.

And the border went over from thence toward Luz, to the side of Luz, which is Bethel, southward; and the border descended to Atarothadar, near the hill that lieth on the south side of the nether Bethhoron.

The nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house. narrowed: Heb. narrowings, or, rebatements

And Solomon built Gezer, and Bethhoron the nether,

(And his daughter was Sherah, who built Bethhoron the nether, and the upper, and Uzzensherah.)

Also he built Bethhoron the upper, and Bethhoron the nether, fenced cities, with walls, gates, and bars;

Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool.

And the pavement by the side of the gates over against the length of the gates was the lower pavement.

Then he measured the breadth from the forefront of the lower gate unto the forefront of the inner court without, an hundred cubits eastward and northward. without: or, from without

And there was an enlarging, and a winding about still upward to the side chambers: for the winding about of the house went still upward round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house was still upward, and so increased from the lowest chamber to the highest by the midst. there: Heb. it was made broader, and went round

Now the upper chambers were shorter: for the galleries were higher than these, than the lower, and than the middlemost of the building. were higher: or, did eat of these than the lower: or, and the building consisted of the lower and the middlemost

For they were in three stories, but had not pillars as the pillars of the courts: therefore the building was straitened more than the lowest and the middlemost from the ground.

And from the bottom upon the ground even to the lower settle shall be two cubits, and the breadth one cubit; and from the lesser settle even to the greater settle shall be four cubits, and the breadth one cubit.
