And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done foolishly in so doing.

Then will I leave thee upon the land, I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with thee.

Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him. most: Heb. with bitternesses blood: Heb. bloods

The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
