יִרְאָה

And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. He: or, Be thou ruler, etc

And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.

Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?

But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.

Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?

To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty. is afflicted: Heb. melteth

Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God. castest: Heb. makest void prayer: or, speech

Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. thy holy: Heb. the temple of thy holiness

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. true: Heb. truth

Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. overwhelmed: Heb. covered

Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. a good: or, good success his commandments: Heb. them

Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. the beginning: or, the principal part

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened. prolongeth: Heb. addeth

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.

The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life. By: or, The reward of humility, etc

Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.

And on all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.

And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: quick: Heb. scent or, smell

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure. salvation: Heb. salvations

O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. from them: Heb. from after them

As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four. and their rings: or, and their strakes

Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause their images to cease out of Noph; and there shall be no more a prince of the land of Egypt: and I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.
