Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.

And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.

Have they not sped? have they not divided the prey; to every man a damsel or two; to Sisera a prey of divers colours, a prey of divers colours of needlework, of divers colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of them that take the spoil? every: Heb. the head of a man

And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and thus were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the house of their fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers.

Among these were the divisions of the porters, even among the chief men, having wards one against another, to minister in the house of the LORD.

Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?

Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?

Are thy days as the days of man? are thy years as man's days,

But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? wasteth: Heb. is weakened, or, cut off

If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour! neighbour: or, friend

Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself? as he: or, if he may be profitable, doth his good success depend thereon?

That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. purpose: Heb. work

Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man, oftentimes: Heb. twice and thrice

What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?

For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me. of: Heb. of heart

Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. answer: Heb. make me know

Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. ordered: or, established

Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. wickedness: or, substance

I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:

What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.

Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. his: Heb. filled his quiver with them speak: or, subdue, or, destroy

Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.

For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. is strong: Heb. is in strength increaseth: Heb. strengtheneth might

A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food. which: Heb. without food

To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,

The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid. midst: Heb. heart

Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee. will carry: or, the Lord who covered thee with an excellent covering, and clothed thee gorgeously, v.18.shall surely, etc a mighty: Heb. the captivity of a man

Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.

Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his holiness.

Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? a man: Heb. a male

How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon:

Even men, and women, and children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah.

Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,

I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High, the most High: or, a superior

Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.
